ON
THE ISSUES
CONSERVATIVE
WITH OUR TAX DOLLARS
For Martin Marks, step one to changing Washington is to change the way politicians
treat our money. Marks will fight for real fiscal discipline that protects
the taxpayer. That means passing a balanced budget amendment, putting
an end to wasteful earmarks and pork barrel spending, and limiting how
much government can spend.
PROTECTING OUR NATION
The facts are clear: our nation is under attack from radical fundamentalists
who use terror as their weapon. To defeat these enemies and win the
war on terror will take a commitment to doing what’s right instead
of what’s politically expedient. That’s why Martin Marks
will push for real changes in foreign policy that guarantee America’s
safety, improve our intelligence system, end the war in Iraq while stabilizing
the Middle East, and prevent terrorists from attacking on our soil.
STANDING STRONG FOR OUR
VALUES
Unlike the other candidates in the race for Congress, Martin Marks stands
for our core Republican values. He believes in traditional marriage
between a man and a woman, the sanctity of life and the rights of law-abiding
citizens to own firearms.
PUT TAXPAYERS FIRST
As government has grown out of control, so has our tax system. Working
families pay too much, and special interests pay too little. And the
entire system is just too confusing. In Congress, Martin Marks will
never vote for a tax increase on our families. He will fight to simplify
the tax code. And he will end government mistakes like the Alternative
Minimum Tax that traps middle class taxpayers into paying more.
ENFORCE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
LAWS
Martin Marks believes strongly in the promise America holds for immigrants
and wants to continue that promise for all who follow the rules. However,
illegal immigrants don’t follow the rules – and are costing
our country too much in taxes and safety. Martin will take a tough stance
on immigration – deporting all illegals caught committing a crime
and not giving those here illegally any special advantage on the path
to U.S. citizenship over those living abroad willing to follow our rules.
Most important, Martin won’t give illegal aliens the same rights
as legal citizens.
PROTECTING
OUR ENVIRONMENT
A balance must be struck between preserving our environment and protecting
and creating jobs for hard-working Americans. There is no question we
should strive for a “Greener” approach to our everyday lives
in business and at home. We must be cautious to apply standards that
will not cause business and jobs to leave our state.
REFORMING HEALTH
CARE
Although estimates vary widely, many Americans find themselves unable
to afford health insurance and do not have access to adequate health
care for their families. Nationalized health care, socialized medicine,
or Hillary-Care is not the answer as it has been a failure wherever
it has been tried. There are other alternatives that would lower health
care costs and provide greater access to families in need. Any discussion
of health care reform must also include a discussion of tort reform
as the litigiousness of our society has a direct negative impact on
our health care system.
